What the Bible says about: self control

Devotional Guidance

My dear child, know that the path to true self-control is not about restriction, but about alignment with the heart of God. It is a gentle calling to guard the treasure within you—your thoughts, your words, and your intentions. We are called to steward our souls diligently, keeping our hearts pure and keeping our minds focused on what is right and true. When we exercise self-control, we are learning to keep back from the snares of iniquity and the traps of the world, allowing God's truth to guide our steps. By seeking to make our inner life acceptable to Him, we find strength and peace. Remember that when we focus our hearts on Him, we are protected, and in that focus, we discover the freedom and uprightness that comes from walking closely with my love.
Deuteronomy 12:32
32. What thing soever I command you, observe to do it: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it.
Psalms 19:13-14
13. Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins ; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression. 14. Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.
Psalms 141:9-10
9. Keep me from the snares which they have laid for me, and the gins of the workers of iniquity. 10. Let the wicked fall into their own nets, whilst that I withal escape.
Deuteronomy 4:9-10
9. Only take heed to thyself, and keep thy soul diligently, lest thou forget the things which thine eyes have seen, and lest they depart from thy heart all the days of thy life: but teach them thy sons, and thy sons' sons;
Job 23:17
17. Because I was not cut off before the darkness, neither hath he covered the darkness from my face.
