Devotional Guidance
My dear child, let your heart rest in the truth of what the scriptures reveal about debt. It is important to understand that debt is more than just earthly measures; it speaks to our stewardship and our universal responsibility. We are called to be wise stewards of the gifts we have, and to remember that all our obligations, both to others and to God, must be balanced with grace.
Remember that true freedom is found not in accumulating burdens, but in recognizing where we are poor and needy, and leaning upon the Lord for help. Just as God commands release among His people, we too are called to extend mercy and release the burdens of injustice. Let us approach this life with a heart of humility, trusting that through God’s boundless love, all debts are ultimately settled, and we are made whole.
Luke 16:4-7
4. I am resolved what to do, that, when I am put out of the stewardship, they may receive me into their houses. 5. So he called every one of his lord's debtors unto him , and said unto the first, How much owest thou unto my lord? 6. And he said, An hundred measures of oil. And he said unto him, Take thy bill, and sit down quickly, and write fifty.
Romans 1:13-16
13. Now I would not have you ignorant, brethren, that oftentimes I purposed to come unto you, (but was let hitherto,) that I might have some fruit among you also, even as among other Gentiles. 14. I am debtor both to the Greeks, and to the Barbarians; both to the wise, and to the unwise. 15. So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you that are at Rome also.
Isaiah 50:1-2
1. Thus saith the LORD, Where is the bill of your mother's divorcement, whom I have put away? or which of my creditors is it to whom I have sold you? Behold, for your iniquities have ye sold yourselves, and for your transgressions is your mother put away.
Deuteronomy 15:1-4
1. At the end of every seven years thou shalt make a release. 2. And this is the manner of the release: Every creditor that lendeth ought unto his neighbour shall release it ; he shall not exact it of his neighbour, or of his brother; because it is called the LORD'S release. 3. Of a foreigner thou mayest exact it again : but that which is thine with thy brother thine hand shall release;
Psalms 70:5
5. But I am poor and needy: make haste unto me, O God: thou art my help and my deliverer; O LORD, make no tarrying.
