What the Bible says about: covetousness

Devotional Guidance

My dear heart, the Scriptures gently remind us that covetousness is a shadow that obscures the light of true joy. It is the dangerous desire to hold onto what we lack, forgetting that all we truly need is the grace and provision God has already given us. When we focus on accumulation rather than gratitude, we miss the abundant life that is already ours. Instead of chasing fleeting desires, let us remember that our true wealth lies in our relationship with Him. By trusting in His plan, we find peace, knowing that our focus on righteousness and faith brings us deeper fulfillment than any earthly possession. Let us choose contentment, for in accepting God's gifts, we discover the true fullness of life.
2 Corinthians 11:1-4
1. Would to God ye could bear with me a little in my folly: and indeed bear with me. 2. For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ. 3. But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.
Mark 12:44
44. For all they did cast in of their abundance; but she of her want did cast in all that she had, even all her living.
Matthew 19:30
30. But many that are first shall be last; and the last shall be first.
Job 3:26
26. I was not in safety, neither had I rest, neither was I quiet; yet trouble came.
Psalms 71:24
24. My tongue also shall talk of thy righteousness all the day long: for they are confounded, for they are brought unto shame, that seek my hurt.
