Devotional Guidance
My beloved child, let me share with you the heart of what the Scriptures teach about charity. It is not merely a feeling, but the active, selfless love that flows from the deepest part of your soul.
Charity is the foundation of all true goodness. It means extending patience and kindness to one another, rejoicing in truth rather than envy, and bearing the burdens of others with grace. When we practice this love, we learn to be generous stewards of the gifts God has given us, sharing our resources and opening our hands to meet the needs of the poor and needy. Remember that this love covers our faults and is the very measure by which we reflect the heart of God. Live out this profound compassion, and you will find true blessing in every act of kindness.
1 Corinthians 13:4-8
4. Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, 5. Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; 6. Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; 7. Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.
1 Peter 4:8-11
8. And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins. 9. Use hospitality one to another without grudging. 10. As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.
1 Corinthians 13:1-4
1. Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. 2. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing. 3. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor , and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.
Psalms 70:5
5. But I am poor and needy: make haste unto me, O God: thou art my help and my deliverer; O LORD, make no tarrying.
Deuteronomy 15:10-12
10. Thou shalt surely give him, and thine heart shall not be grieved when thou givest unto him: because that for this thing the LORD thy God shall bless thee in all thy works, and in all that thou puttest thine hand unto. 11. For the poor shall never cease out of the land: therefore I command thee, saying, Thou shalt open thine hand wide unto thy brother, to thy poor, and to thy needy, in thy land.
