Devotional Guidance
My beloved children, I speak to you today about the sacredness of the bond God establishes between a husband and wife. The Scriptures reveal that marriage is a covenant, a holy promise reflecting the deep love and commitment God intends for us. When we speak of adultery, we are touching upon a brokenness that tears apart this sacred unity.
Remember that our true freedom is found not in following human rules, but in our union with Christ. God calls us to live in purity, guarding our hearts and minds from corruption so that we may reflect the faithfulness of the One who called us. Let us strive to honor the vows we make, recognizing that true love requires fidelity and a heart devoted entirely to one another, bringing forth the fruit of a life lived in truth and grace.
Romans 7:3-5
3. So then if, while her husband liveth, she be married to another man, she shall be called an adulteress: but if her husband be dead, she is free from that law; so that she is no adulteress, though she be married to another man. 4. Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God.
Mark 10:11-14
11. And he saith unto them, Whosoever shall put away his wife, and marry another, committeth adultery against her. 12. And if a woman shall put away her husband, and be married to another, she committeth adultery. 13. And they brought young children to him, that he should touch them: and his disciples rebuked those that brought them .
2 Corinthians 11:1-4
1. Would to God ye could bear with me a little in my folly: and indeed bear with me. 2. For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ. 3. But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.
Judges 14:20
20. But Samson's wife was given to his companion, whom he had used as his friend.
Hosea 3:1-4
1. Then said the LORD unto me, Go yet, love a woman beloved of her friend, yet an adulteress, according to the love of the LORD toward the children of Israel, who look to other gods, and love flagons of wine. 2. So I bought her to me for fifteen pieces of silver, and for an homer of barley, and an half homer of barley: 3. And I said unto her, Thou shalt abide for me many days; thou shalt not play the harlot, and thou shalt not be for another man: so will I also be for thee.
